About Koji’s Story

Why create Koji’s Story?

Koji’s Story is run by two individuals named Brittany and Paul. They are very much in love with each other and are still very much in love with their late Shiba Inu, Koji. When we first heard of this disease through our visits with Koji to our vet, we immediatley starting searching online for more information. What we found was countless textbook definitions, medical journals, and an overall “doom and gloom” attitude towards Idiopathic Chylothorax. Though most of this information was useful and educating, we longed to join a community website where people could talk about their personal experiences, good and bad in regards to this disease. We wanted to hear stories of what others had gone through so that we could learn what to expect.

So, when Koji finally passed away, we felt it even more neccessary to honor his memory and create a blog where people could connect and share their stories. That is why we created “Koji’s Story”.

We are in no way presuming ourselves professional experts and do not intend the information on this site to diagnose or treat any animal. We simply want to share our story and experience so that it may help others when dealing with Idiopathic Chylothorax.

    Hello Brittany and Paul-

My name is Ken. I have a 2-year old Shiba Inu named Shemp who was just diagnosed with chylothorax. He is hospitalized at the moment and we are trying to figure out the next steps.

I am so sorry for your loss of Koji. I just read his story and was very moved. I will be sure to share with you what happens with Shemp.

    Thank you.

    Hi Brittany-

Times have been tough since I lost Shemp. But I am hanging in there.

My breeder offered me another male shiba pup that I am considering. :) Just not sure if I am ready.

I hope you are good! Thanks so much for all your kind words and support.
